Could older versions (say, 0.53) run on your computer?
If you could, upgrade your computer OS to the latest one (12.3.1) and try again.

Version 0.53 did run without problems.
I cannot update my Macbook Pro to OS 12, it is simply to old and does not get any os-update in the future (only security-updates).
I will restore version 0.53 from my backup and try again.
