I think people can sell legally GPL software once they obey all requirements, including releasing source code with all changes/modifications.

I am not sure maybe you can contact stockfish team regarding selling stockfish based clone engine.

Your good work and free engines were gift for people consider distributing Kookaburra also free.

Keep in mind that this isn't a new engine. It's just a slightly modified Stockfish that passed several tests and should be a bit stronger with longer time control.
