Solista Opening Books
Solista Opening Books:
On my homepage https://solista-chess.jimdosite.com/ I have published two Polyglot books since September 2021, Predator2.bin and Predator2.1.bin. These books are among the best polyglot books on the computer chess scene. Version 2.1 is an update with new winning games. I play with Banksia GUI on Lichess very successfully. I set "max ply" to 100 and "top to 80%". Best Move should be deactivated in the engine options.
A few days ago I was asked how I made my BIN books. Well, it all started with around 2000 high quality games played with 64 cores on PlayChess.com. I have studied all the games, and in a two-month work, I edited all the games by hand into a small CTG book. Because everything was done by hand, the variants have become of different lengths. Then it was used to train again on the server for several weeks. I saved the games in a database. With the "Polyglot Tolerant" tool, I then created a white book, a black book and a draw book. In the end I merged the three books, first the white book with the black book, and then the resulting book with the draw book. The result was Predator1.bin. After a first test for errors and failures, I tuned the book by hand with the database program SCID. Predotor2.bin was created.
Because my little CTG book played successfully on PlayChess (no defeats with 64 cores), I also made a little polyglot book from the same games. A 200 kB small BIN book was created. To my surprise, my Ryzen 9 3900X played even more successfully on Lichess than with the Predator book. The reason for this is that not only the best stockfishs play on Lichess, but also a variety of other engines. With the little book, my engine was able to bypass many well-trodden theory paths. Perhaps the very best move was not always played, but the opponent was surprised and some weaker engines were out calculated.
If you have very good hardware (8 cores and more) you will probably have more success with the short book on Lichess. For everyone who wants to test it, the updated small book "Solista-Shortbook1.1.bin" (300 kB) can be downloaded here: https://filehorst.de/d/ecHipogC
Please respect my request and do not publish my books on other platforms.
Thanks,
Eduard

Re: Solista Opening Books
I'll use both Predator2.2 and Short1.1 with next top Polyglot compatible engines on my SuperBlitz
Thank you, Alex

Re: Solista Opening Books
I have updated all my books, download here:
https://solista-chess.jimdosite.com/
Kayra.bin and Kayra.abk (arena format) have also been added. As soon as Engine Kayra supports the Polyglot format, I will tune the book better. The book currently consists of my own analyzes, game fragments and around 700 Kayra games from PlayChess (5+0 ponder ON on Ryzen 3900X). I will of course import more games and there will be a book update.
